  • Bigger facilities: Only a small share of today’s data centers consume more than 50 megawatts, but upcoming sites are expected to be far larger. Many planned facilities could exceed 100 megawatts of power demand on their own.
  • Hyperscale expansion: Nearly a quarter of all new data centers may draw more than 500 megawatts, with some mega-projects even approaching the 1-gigawatt level.
  • AI workload boom: Utilization rates inside data centers are rising as well. AI training and inference are rapidly becoming a dominant share of global compute usage, pushing utilization from around 59% today to nearly 70% by 2035.
